How I Become an Artist; Q and A with Sidney

Q: When did you know you wanted to go to school for photography? A: I never knew I wanted my career or even going to college for photography till I was in my first semester of college. I always have had a love for it in high school, so I wanted to expand that knowledge by learning everything about this way of art.

Q: Have you always loved taking photos? A: I didn’t start taking a lot of pictures till I was in High school on a real DSLR camera. After learning some things early on in High School, I found a love for it and it has been growing ever since.

Q: Does your life represent your work and who you are? A: Yes it does, my work represents who I am and the struggles that I have faced growing up. My work also represents what I believe in and Other interests in my life.

Q: What struggles do your face as an artist? A: I struggle with getting my work out in the world. Also struggle with not getting sucked into the trends on social media and the way artist are portraying photos with the Hipster looked, blown out backgrounds, lots of cool colors, etc.

Q: Whats your favorite thing as an artist? A: My favorite thing is meeting new people and finding opportunities to find new relationships.

Q: What have you learned as an artist? A: Honestly I have learned a ton of information on technical skills and even about my camera. One thing though I have never been good at it but am more prepared for now is rejection by other people. In this word there will be people who don’t like your work and during this course of life, I have learned about that.

Q: If you could collaborate with any other artist, who would it be and why? A: The artist I would choose is Jesse Burke. He bases all his work on family and nature. I would choose him because being outdoors is my favorite thing and i also care so much for my family and each of our relationships.

Q: whats one thing in your Art backpack that you can’t live without? A: Besides my camera, it would be my hard drive. Everything is on it, so if I don’t have it well then I don’t have my work.

Q: Where is your dream location to shoot photography? A: My dream is to shoot for Walt Disney world. To work up in the company and to be known as a disney photographer.

Q: If you pursued any other art or career, what would you choose? A: I Honestly don’t know, probably something with business just because my whole family is involved in a business type job involving marketing or even H.R.
